Our Story

MARS stands for “Martial Arts Research Systems”.  It was established in 1996 by husband & wife team, Ron Balicki and Diana Lee Inosanto.  Prior to that, Sifu /Guro Ron Balicki was managing and teaching at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts in Los Angeles, California.  After getting married in 1995, Ron and Diana decided to create the MARS seminar program, teaching people from across the United States and Canada.  Growing rapidly through the years, MARS has taught at schools and institutions worldwide: Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Belgium, China, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Switzerland, Abu Dhabi and Istanbul.

Our Approach

The MARS approach is grounded in the philosophy of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do: “To Utilize All Ways and Be Bound by None.”  Under the main influence of global martial arts influencer and icon, Dan Inosanto (father/ father-in-law of Diana Lee Inosanto /Ron Balicki) a repertoire of different disciplines in martial arts and tactical self-defense approaches has influenced a curriculum in Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do (JKD), Filipino Martial Arts & Boxing, Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), Indonesian Pencak Silat (Maphilindo Silat), French Savate (Kickboxing), Shoot Wrestling (MMA) and several Asian & European weapons-based systems encompassing sword, knife, stick and staff work.  MARS has taught people from different walks of life: civilians, military, police and even Hollywood actors and stunt performers looking to expand their physical expression on camera.
